I often have thoughts like yours but instead of being colonised for our milk, humans are charged with genocide and crimes against living beings for the farming and execution of animals. And the news plays snippets of people claiming they didn't know it was wrong and it is all so laughable. Bravo for being vegetarian!

Thanks for your comment Hels. It is amazing that I decided out of the bkue to go and view the piece, for the first time in two years. Turns out is was missing, had been missing for nearly 18 months. And that very week it is reassembled and the article appears in the newspaper. There must have been something in the air that sent me to the promenade to view the work.

Not by chance! There are two possible explanations. Firstly God or fate saw you sitting there in the train and swept THAT article in your hands. It was pre-planned and inevitable. Secondly the article was there anyhow but you wouldn't have even noticed it, had your mind not been on Tinguely's massive sculpture.

Not by chance for me, as well. I have written about Varian Fry and Hiram Bingham IV for years. But it was not until a young barista at my local espresso bar mentioned her latest student project (about the Vel d'Hiv roundup) that I went home and checked out the dates!

We first came across the work of Jean Tinguely at the Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest. We love the tension in his pieces of mechanical elements which 'work' but do not effect any purpose. They are, we feel simultaneously amusing and thought provoking.

Like you, we should have been pleased to see the return of Tinguely's work to Zurich. Heureka is indeed a massive construction and does look highly impressive silhouetted against the sky. We should certainly make a point in seeking it out if we ever find ourselves in town!!

I wouldn't eat a poor sheep, but I do love the smooth surface. The visitor is almost compelled to run his/her hands over that smoothness. And a waterside location is irresistible.

A Museum for the Cultural History of Coffee? Let me at it! There are very few important things in life but family, good coffee and good art are three of them. My history lectures on cafe culture are always well attended :)

Sometimes an emergency exit sign is helpful, if the exit isn't obvious, but you're right in general we have far too many signs everywhere.

Spouse and I only had 3 days in Zurich, so we ran round like demented tourists. Hard to know which places I loved the most - Swiss National Museum, Museum of Art, Kunsthaus, Fraumunster, Grossmunster, Opera House etc etc. And I surprised myself by loving the Museum of Design.

Hello:
We have long since been intrigued by the Fibonacci sequence and its occurrence in natural forms and so we find this art work most interesting. We too are not sure that the work itself is so appealing but the theory behind its construction and its placement in the vast space of the Zurich Railway Station is certainly of interest.
